Personal Injury Claims

What is personal injury? The law says that personal injury is injury sustained to one, personally, through the negligence of another person. Automobile accidents are an example of personal injury because there is injury to the vehicle and the driver and passengers at the hands of careless drive of another vehicle. Another example of personal injury is the slip and fall accident where you fall while shopping because something was not cleaned off the floor and you slipped on it.

There are also accidents that happen outside, example: if you were walking down the street and something fell from a building an you sustained a head injury.

Each of these examples happened because of the negligence of another person: the auto accidents because of a careless driver; the slip and fall because of a negligent store manager; and the head injury because of a negligent property owner. In each example there are costs of repairing the automobile and medical or hospitalization costs that should not be your responsibility.

Personal injury is not confined to autos and stores, they can also happen on the job. Whether you are a construction worker or you work in a nice modern office, injuries can be sustained. Before there were computers in the offices the modern piece of equipment for typing was the electric typewrite. I received an electric shock from my electric typewrite. Impossible?

Nothing is impossible where human assembly is concerned. It appears that the motor of the typewriter that should have been hermetically sealed was done poorly and with use the motor opened. I was its target, I started to use the typewriter and found myself half way across the office. Several officials came to see the typewriter because they could not believe it happened. They soon found the defect. I was thankful that I was not seriously injured.

  1. as mentioned above, there are costs involved with personal injury and those costs should be covered by those that were negligent in their duties.

Exactly! but making a claim is not just an easy step, it needs to have a proper legal ways in order for you to win a compensation. Like making an accident at work claims, an employee who sustained an injury after an accident at work needs to provide a concrete evidence to prove it.
